Overview

The energy markets in Canada and internationally are moving towards hybrid systems that maximize the benefits of nuclear power and increase the deployment of renewable energy systems. This specialized two-day (2) course focuses on Nuclear-Renewable Hybrid Energy Systems (N-R HES) and the knowledge gained will enable attendees to be ready for a wide range of infrastructure projects that include a variety of energy sources.

You will receive an Ontario Tech 澳门猛虎报 certificate upon successful completion of this course.

Who should attend?

  • Graduate students, alumni and researchers studying or working in energy, energy systems and nuclear science fields;
  • Energy and transportation electrification planners;
  • Energy, utility and small modular reactor (SMR) provider employees;
  • Policy makers and government officials who support the energy industry;
  • Energy end users.

What you'll learn

  • The needs, requirements, design, and operational aspects of integrated Nuclear-Renewable Hybrid Energy Systems (N-R HES);
  • The foundations to analyze, design and evaluate integrated N-R HES with various implementation strategies that are optimized based on energy demand and user requirements;
  • Challenges and approaches to achieve practical and profitable N-R HES deployments, using key parameters such as design, control, and operational factors, including scalability, capital cost, project lifetime, construction period, land acquisition, ecological safety, and technological aspects;
  • Business activity modeling with IDEF0 to reflect practical implementation steps with unified activities and practices;
  • Techno-economic analysis methods will be explained and used to evaluate operational scenarios and strategies.

Admissions requirements

Participants who have post-secondary education or industry experience will benefit most from this course. However, there are no formal additional requirements.

Required elements

Complete both days of the Nuclear-Renewable Hybrid Energy Systems course to receive a technical certificate of completion.
